MoH Launches Al-Ansar Hospital PPP

The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced today the launch of the Expression of Interest (EoI) of the Alansar Hospital PPP as the first step for the private sector to bid for the transaction . The new Alansar Hospital will be located in Almadinah Almunawwarah with a planned clinical capacity of to 244 beds, which exceeds the clinical capacity of the previous facility by 170%, with annual visits expected to be beyond 400,000 visits for the new hospital; the project will be part of the healthcare services provided to residents and visitors of Almadinah Almunawwarah contributing to sustainable and free healthcare services provided to all beneficiaries by MoH.

MoH, supported by the National Center for Privatization and PPP(NCP), completed all necessary technical, financial and regulatory studies for the project before the launch of the EoI. The Alansar Hospital transaction is an initiative under the Privatization Program - one of Vision 2030 programs.

The transaction includes the constructing of a new hospital with higher clinical capacity equipped with innovative designs and capabilities that enables physicians to provide international standard healthcare services to patients.

With launch of the EoI of Alansar Hospital MoH targets attracting infrastructure developers, contractors, and consortiums to deliver the project under a BMT (design, build, equipment procurement, operations and maintenance) model. Interested bidders can submit their EoI until March 31, 2020. The EoI requirements and information are posted on the MoH and NCP websites.

Alansar Hospital is the first transaction to be launched under the “Establishing and operating hospitals PPP initiative" under the Privatization Program, a Vision 2030 Program. The hospital carries exceptional value due to its location which is adjacent to the Holly Mosque in Almadinah Almunawwarah.

The Alansar Hospital PPP will contribute to increasing private sector participation in providing healthcare services, improving infrastructure, raising safety standards, and managing health facilities. This will be the first hospital transaction, under the Privatization Program,  among a series of planned transactions by MoH for the commissioning and operation of hospitals.
